If you looked at my bag or my bedroom, you might not believe that I like being organised but it's true. We used to be given a homework diary every year in school and I would use it religiously. I like having everything written down in front of me and I can be a bit scatterbrained so it's useful. I got out of the habit of it when I left school and would just scribble deadlines into my sketchbooks but when I started working, one of the first things I did was buy a new diary to write my rota into. It used to be a red moleskine diary but it just never felt pretty enough. So last summer, when I noticed filofaxes popping up on blogs, I got interested. I remember having a Disney funfax when I was little and loved filling stuff in, buying new packs and stickers and I guess not much has changed!
It didn't take me long to decide which filofax I wanted. I knew as soon as I saw it on GalaDarling's blog that it had to be raspberry and after seeing them in person I picked a "personal" sized metropol - not too big but not too small either. I then spent ages in John Lewis, Paperchase and online deciding what I wanted to put in it! You can see above that I keep a pink pen with it. The bear badge came from a Made in the Shade event I went to but I can't remember who it's by.
At the very front, I've got a mirror (of course), a business card holder and some clear plastic pockets. I keep the cards I don't need in my purse, like my letting agents details and my dance card here. The clear plastic pockets are full of bits and pieces I've stuck in there like club guestlist cards, tickets, notes from people, flyers. Then I've got my information and my diary with postit notes and stickers! My inner child still loves stickers and I have ones from filofax and Paperchase. After that I have my addresses and phone numbers, a planning and to do list section and then notes which is a selection of papers - lined, graph and plain for scribbling everything down. There's a load of doodles and ideas in there too. Then I have a section for my blog which again has a whole bunch of different papers. At the back there's more bits and pieces, like postcards, swimming pool timetable, price lists for places. Before I left uni, I also had a fold-out year planner where I'd colour coded my projects and assessments and holidays and everything. Yeah, I'm that cool!
My filofax fits in perfectly with my stationary obsession. I spent ages sitting organising it after new year and have to stop myself buying bits and pieces but I think I've finally settled. I found that the range of refills Paperchase have for their own diaries fit in this one too so a lot of my bits are from there. My diary pages, note paper, brown paper, dividers and plain paper are all from there. It's slightly cheaper than the filofax own stuff, which is still good!
I think I'm so indecisive that I'll probably keep editing and adding to what I keep in it over time. I definitely need to decorate the boring white divider pages.
I'm really nosy and love seeing how other people organise themselves, so here's some links -
and of course, Philofaxy!
ps. I just wanted to say, sorry for a slight lack in posting. I'm at my parents in Edinburgh and have been spending my days in my pjs clearing out my bedroom. I'm getting incredibly frustrated as it looks like the girl who was going to take my room in Aberdeen has backed out. I also don't have my dslr here so these are from my crappy night out digital camera. I've not really felt like blogging much but I'm doing my best to get back into it!
